Guides & Strategies

Regardless of which casino game you play, the house will hold an edge. However, there are numerous ways to turn the odds in your favour. Most, if not all legitimate ways to do this, is to use offers and promotions available.

When playing online casinos, it is essential to know what offers are available to you. Often the best bonuses are 'match' bonuses. Most casinos will offer to match your deposit and can be seen to be as much as 500%. They place terms and conditions on these cash bonuses and enforce withdrawal conditions.

Two of the most common match bonuses are those with wagering requirements, and sticky bonuses.

Wagering Requirements

Bonuses that allow the full balance, including bonus and winnings to be withdrawn place wagering requirements before withdrawal. They can be seen to be anything from five times the bonus upwards.
The key to these bonuses is to reduce the house's edge to as little as possible so once you have met the wagering requirements, you have a positive expected value (+EV).

Blackjack is ofter the best game to meet wagering requirements as the house's edge is relatively low, usually at about 2 - 3%. A Blackjack guide is available via the links below along with other guides.

An example would be the 888.com welcome bonus. A 100% match bonus up to £100 on your first deposit. You must wager the bonus 20 times before withdrawing.

So playing blackjack, if you play to the betting guide would give you an expected value of 100 - (2 x 20) = £60. Anything with +EV is generally worth doing unless the profit is not worth the time. This offer would probably take about 45 minutes using low stakes.

One thing to note is that the EV is only a value that you can expect to end. Obviously there is some variance. You may meet the wagering requirements with a balance higher or lower than the estimate.

The safest option is to play as lower stakes as possible. Although this is a longer process, the varience will be much less. Meaning, you are more likely to finish around the EV as any winning or losing streaks have less effect on your balance. You are less likely to win big, but less likely to lose.

Sticky Bonuses

These bonuses can be a much quicker way of seeing profits.
Casinos offering Sticky bonuses do not allow the bonus to be withdrawn at anytime regardless of how much you have wagered. However, you may withdraw your profits at anytime.

The best way to play these, is to qualify for the maximum bonus allowed. Once received, place the whole balance on an even bet, or as close to even as you can. The idea here is that you are placing an evens bet, but you will recieve a payout of much higher if it wins.

If you win, you withdraw everythin appart from the bonus. You can then usually try it again with the bonus once you have withdrawn everything else.
A good bet would be blackjack, or either red or black on a roulette table as these are as close to an evens bet you will get.

Although this has no effect on the odds as to whether you will win or not, it increases the payout when you do. So effectively you can place an evens bet, but with a payout of 3/1 or 4/1. Odds suggest you should win around half of these, but when you do win, your payout will be much more than your losses when you lose.

This is a slightly more risky method of betting, but the odds strongly suggest that over a period of time you will see a good profit with very little work.
